About the Book
Newspaper columnist and humorist, Dan Brown, treats every adventure as a story just waiting to be written. Whether it’s an essay on how best to lose a trophy brown trout through sheer oversight and stupidity, buying a used car from a guy with the middle name, "Wayne," who he suspects might be a serial killer, or why the word of any accomplished angler simply cannot be trusted, Brown looks at life’s adventures with humor and mirth. There are just enough serious and contemplative pieces sprinkled throughout this collection as well, with recollections of memorable days on the water and afield - a boy’s first pheasant hunt, seeking redemption on the famed Namekagon River, the existentialism and grace that can be achieved through fly-fishing, or thoughts on a small, Walden-esque cabin in the woods. Da Fishi Code is a collection of brief essays that will take the reader along on Brown’s fishing, hunting and life experiences, and they are sure to make you laugh and smile along the way.

About the author
Dan Brown is an active outdoorsman who resides along the St. Croix River in Taylors Falls, Minnesota with his wife, Su, and younger son, Augie (17). Their eldest son, Anders (21), attends UMD and lives in Duluth, MN. Dan has been a trout fishing guide since 1999 and a Certified Casting Instructor with Fly Fishers International since 2008. Despite his deep and abiding love for fly-fishing, he is not above utilizing conventional tackle and live bait (plugs and minnows and worms, oh my!) to fool muskies, walleyes, bluegills and crappies. During the fall months, Dan can be found tromping through the woods with his sons chasing small game, grouse and deer. Dan is a member of the Outdoor Writers Association of America, writing pieces since 2002 for newspapers, magazines and books. He has also made television appearances on Minnesota Bound (KARE11), Backroads with Ron & Raven (ESPN2), Cook What You Catch with Randy Meier, as well as KSTP 5 Twin Cities Eyewitness News Morning Show.
"This thing called fishing is actually more of a disease than a pastoral pastime. You have to have it to recognize the symptoms. For that reason, I know Dan Brown has a serious case of the sickness. Consider his book title: Da Fishi Code. No more proof needed. Hence, dear reader, you are headed for a collection of angling experiences that have floated about in Dan Brown’s piscatorial mind, which—and I’m no doctor—undoubtedly means he practices fish, eat, sleep, repeat as a way of life. The result is a book of pleasant fishi tales from which there is no cure. Of this I know."
